Alessandro joined Welch as a co-op student in 2009 while attending Carleton University. He graduated Carleton University with a Bachelor of Commerce, Highest Honours, Concentration in Accounting. He has since obtained his CPA, CA designation and become a Partner in 2021.

Alessandro is a leader in Welch’s technology sector serving high-growth international companies ranging from start-up through to exit or public offering including working with public companies and or assisting public companies through an IPO/RTO.

Community involvement

I have volunteered for many boards and charitable groups in the past. Currently I am on the board of Operation Come Home. Operation Come Home has a very long history in Ottawa (over 50 years) and plays a huge role in helping the youth of Ottawa with various social programs around its pillars of education, employment, and housing. The organization works day in and out to help prevent homeless youth from becoming homeless adults. As a board member I have assisted the organization with the implementation of social enterprises, implementing investment strategies and assisting with finances and the annual audit. I also assisted with planning and the creation of The Operation Come Home Foundation, which is in its infancy, we have ambitious plans to grow and support youth with education.

I have also assisted in creating the Welch Community Foundation at the firm and serve on its board of directors. The purpose of Welch’s Foundation is to promote giving and giving back to the community in which we serve and the community that has supported us and has allowed us to grow and operate as the firm we are today.  

Hobbies / Talents

First and foremost, my family is extremely important to me. With young kids’, life is hectic at home, spending time with my wife and kids is top of the list. We love to spend as much time as we can up at the family cottage visiting family and friends and hosting.

When I can find time, I love to ski and snowmobile in the winter and once in a while I like to get out of retirement and play a softball game here and there.

Another big hobby and passion of mine is music, I attend as many concerts as I can and am a regular at Bluesfest every year.

Most Memorable Vacation

I have travelled much in my life so there are many great vacations to mention however the ones that come to mind are a few trips to Italy, the country my parents were born. In 2013, my whole family vacationed in Italy where I was able to connect with family members I had not seen since the last time I visited ten years prior. What made it even more special was that it was the last time I was able to spend time with my late grandmother. I subsequently travelled there in 2018 with my wife (then girlfriend) where we got engaged on the island of Capri. It was a really special trip.

Personal Accomplishment

I am very proud of my academic achievements including obtaining the Senate Medal for Academic Achievement at Carleton University and subsequently obtaining my CPA, CA designation. It is one of the hardest certifications to achieve and took a tremendous amount of work and experience. Of course, I am extremely proud of being a Welch partner, I couldn’t have asked for a better firm to work for and a better group of partners and staff to work with, I could not be prouder of our team and all their accomplishments.
