Eleanor Guenette

Eleanor specializes in supporting owner-managed businesses and not-for-profits with a particular interest in estates and trusts, personal income tax planning, and specialized accounting and audit requirements of not-for-profit organizations.

Eleanor Guenette joined Welch LLP as a summer student in 1981. She graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1984, and received her CA designation in 1986.

She worked in the Ottawa office of Welch after graduation while working towards her designation. She has been a Partner since 1989. She was the Human Resources Partner for the firm’s Quinte area practice for many years. After working in the Belleville office for over 25 years, she moved to our Trenton office in 2011.

Past Treasurer of Brighton Soccer Club, Treasurer of The Quest for a Community Track and Sportsfield at East Northumberland Secondary School, Chair of the Local Organizing Committee for the Kraft Celebration Tour that brought TSN and a $25,000 cheque from Kraft to Brighton in 2010, member of the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation Finance Committee.

Hobbies/ talents

Enjoy watching my daughter and son play hockey and soccer; big junior hockey fan – season ticket holder for the Belleville Bulls since 1999, my husband and I attend the Memorial Cup each year (since 1999) and we really miss the Bulls now that they have moved; big Dallas Cowboy fan

Most memorable vacation

Trip to Arlington, Texas to see my Cowboys play twice in their new stadium. For years, my husband promised me that for our 25th wedding anniversary he’d take me to Dallas to see a game and he made my dream come true.

I don’t really have a favourite movie; I like pretty much everything.

Personal accomplishment/ most proud of?

Named Citizen of the Year in Brighton for 2010 – being recognized by my peers in my community was very special.
