About the Opportunity
Welch LLP is seeking a Manager, this role is perfect for someone with a desire to grow and is looking to gain diverse experience. You’ll take on key responsibilities in assurance, accounting, tax, and advisory services, collaborating closely with senior managers and partners. You’ll have the chance to lead a team in a fast-paced, supportive environment while managing a variety of client accounts.
This opportunity is part of our specialized Tech Team, which works closely with high-growth companies in the technology sector and entities with complex reporting requirements under ASPE, IFRS and US GAAP—including startups, scale-ups, venture/PE-backed businesses and small cap Canadian public companies. You’ll gain exposure to innovative clients navigating rapid expansion, complex funding structures, and evolving regulatory landscapes.
We are open to candidates based in Toronto or Ottawa, with collaboration across offices. The successful candidate will be able to take advantage of our flexible work policy with an expectation that the majority of the time the individual is working in the office or at client site supporting teams, individuals and clients. This role would not be a fit for someone that wishes to work primarily from home.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the accounting, assurance and tax service needs of a portfolio of private and public clients
- Manage the engagement process from initial scheduling and planning through to client review and financial statement sign off.
- Meet with clients regarding financial statements, other business matters and engagement issues.
- Support of personal and corporate tax filings
- Discuss proposed time budgets with partners and assign engagement budgets to staff.
- Identify new business opportunities with new and existing clients.
- Manage a team of Accountants.
- Ensuring reporting deadlines are monitored and reported against on a regular basis
- Work directly with high-growth tech clients, providing strategic insights and scalable financial solutions
Qualifications
- A minimum completion of University Degree
- CPA, CA or equivalent designation obtained or close to completion preferred
- A minimum of 4 years of public accounting experience is required.
- A passion for client service with a proven track record of supporting client’s adherence to reporting timelines.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and assurance principles.
- Track record of meeting deadlines and planned outcomes
- Experience with assurance, accounting and tax software.
