Mark joined Welch LLP as a co-op student in 1999 and became a full time employee in 2002 after completing his Bachelor of Mathematics and his Masters of Accounting, both at the University of Waterloo. He received his CA designation in 2004 and Certified Internal Auditor designation in 2012. Mark was named Partner in 2016. He has experience providing financial statement and compliance audits, accounting, as well as documenting, evaluating and testing internal controls for audited organizations. Mark has also conducted practice inspections on behalf of CPA Ontario.
Mark Jackson is Welch LLP’s expert in computer assisted auditing techniques, given his strong background in sophisticated IT environments and 10+ years in financial auditing. Mark is also one of Welch’s resident experts in ACL, which is a tool used in audits to extract and analyze data.
Since 2004, Mark has been involved with the design and maintenance for the firm’s CaseWare (assurance engagement software) template files, which include the development of audit programs, year-end schedules and financial statements. These templates have been used in several thousand client files at 12 Welch LLP offices across Ontario. In addition, Mark has provided training services to new staff at Welch LLP.
Mark qualified as a certified consultant for Sage 50 (Simply Accounting) in 2005 and has since provided consulting services for numerous clients in a variety of industries. Such consulting services have included installation, data conversion, training and support. Mark was also involved in the data mapping schemata for the initial establishment of the ACCPAC A/R module for the Billing and Collection Function for the Federal Communication Commission (USA).
