JOB DESCRIPTION
Frecon Construction is looking for a Controller to join their team in Russell.
While employed by Frecon Construction, the position is actually for all operating companies under the Drevco Management Limited and Drevcon Holdings Limited banners. Currently this encompasses approximately 15 operating companies and numerous co-tenant statements.
The purpose of this position is to perform, manage or oversee all accounting functions as they relate to the operating companies under these holding companies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervise & Direct Staff within Accounting Department:
- To ensure all posting is completed in a timely manner
- To ensure all government remittances are completed and paid as required.
- To ensure all payroll functions are completed in a timely fashion.
- Perform internal auditing of staff work.
Corporate Accounting:
- Prepare quarterly statements for all companies
- Prepare YE books c/w required back-up for external auditors
- Prepare draft income tax calculations
- Set up books for new Companies
- Manage NV2 databases, access control and passwords of support staff.
Management Controls:
- Yearly T4 forms for all companies.
- Yearly T5018 forms for all companies.
- Cash Flow management for all companies
- Perform Internal Job Audit at the completion of a project
- Supervise auditors (we may be audited by: government, taxation, WSIB, bonding, insurance or financial institution, etc.)
- Reporting of Quarterly Financial Statement, Consolidation, monthly General Journal Entries, Audit Working Files, A/R / A/P
Payroll & Associated Regular Remittances:
- Yearly T4 forms for all companies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- General knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Proven time management skills and ability to handle multiple deadlines
- Confident and able to make sound judgement and decisions without supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has supervisory responsibilities to:
- Accounting Clerk
- Accounting Assistant
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position is performed in a normal office environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in accounting procedures
- Secondary education in Accounting
