About the Opportunity 

Welch is currently looking for an HR Generalist for our Ottawa office. This role is a key member of the Human Resources team and provide support and guidance across the organization. The HR Generalist is responsible for full cycle talent acquisition, total rewards, and providing HR support.  A successful HR Generalist will build successful, trusting relationships with all levels of the organization to ensure that all employees know and operate under the core values and culture of Welch LLP. This position allows for a hybrid work schedule between home and the office, with two workdays per week in office. 

This is a new role within Welch to support growing business needs. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment processes from job posting to offer generation
  • Work with the HR Business Partner to provide support on employee relations and performance management 
  • Oversee Firm’s benefits programs; enrollment, answering inquiries, and being the liaison with benefits provider 
  • Oversee accommodations and leaves; working closely with employees, managers, HRBP and benefits case managers, as required, to expedite leave administration, ensure timely adjudication and to facilitate appropriate return to work planning.
  • Oversee all total rewards related matters including recognition, length of service awards, and total compensation. Respond to inquiries, offers consultation and education to all levels of employees and partners and provide guidance and interpretation of Total Rewards programs, processes policies and plans. 
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian employment laws and company policies. 
  • Maintain accurate HR records and administer HR information systems (HRIS). 
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures. 
  • Assist with analyzing HR Metrics (e.g. turnover, engagement) to provide actionable recommendations to leadership 
  • Oversee immigration support (i.e. work permit process renewal, LMIAs)

Requirements: 

Experience and Education: 

  • Minimum 3 years of previous experience in an HR Generalist role, professional services environment is a bonus 
  • Previous experience overseeing Total Rewards program (benefits, leaves, salary, bonus)  
  • Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Human Resources Management or related field with experience 

Technical and Soft Skills 

  • Previous experience with BambooHR or similar HRIS 
  • Previous experience with ADP is a bonus 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to handle multiple responsibilities at once 
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality, demonstrating Welch’s values 
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
