Welch was proud to be amongst the stars at the Telfer School of Management Career Centre Celebration. This annual event recognized collaborators, employers, staff, and students as #TelferStars for their contribution to the business school and highlighted their involvement with the Career Centre. Welch employees, Chelsea Parker, Kathryn Hancock, and Stef Reid were acknowledged for their continued support and dedication to ensuring a meaningful partnership between Welch and the Telfer School of Management.
Welch LLP set out on a rebranding exercise in and around 2007. This rebranding initiative included redefining our community involvement. Around the same time we were approached by the University of Ottawa – School of Management (now the Telfer School of Management) and asked to consider a partnership. Telfer was and continues to be a significant developer of well-educated accounting students. We rely heavily on a new crop of such students each year. As a result, it became clear to us that we needed to enhance our standing at the University and to give back as best we could. Welch committed to contributing approximately $200,000 of cash and in-kind donations to the school over a five year period. As part of the partnership, our donation helped to fund a study room which was named after our firm.
The tax group at Welch also undertook the task of teaching a tax course at the University for a number of years. In 2011, to continue our involvement with the Telfer School of Management, Welch committed to another five year term as a partner in a number of different initiatives. This partnership agreement has subsequently been renewed for another five year term.
