Welch LLP presented a cheque for $30,000 to The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation from the first annual Grand Casino held at the Canadian War Museum on November 9, 2016.
The event featured a fun, social atmosphere and hosted more than 500 attendees from the Ottawa business community.
The event was made possible by the supporting sponsors of the event Versature, PWL Capital, and the Ottawa Business Journal.
“Today 16 people in our community will be told they have cancer, and tomorrow 16 more people will go to their doctor only to hear that they have cancer,” said John Ouellette, VP of Philanthropy at the ORCF. “Because of the generosity in our community and events like the Grand Casino supported by Welch LLP and all of the sponsors, these people will have help and they will have hope.”
The Cancer Foundation’s Work and Cancer Survivorship program is designed to help navigate the physical and mental challenges of returning to work after cancer treatment. Throughout coaching sessions patients not only receive support from the Cancer Coaches, but gain understanding from other survivors who had made the transition back to work. The Cancer Foundation’s Cancer Coaching programs are only possible with the support of generous donors!
