The Coldest Night of the Year

This year marks 8 years of Welch LLP participating in the “Coldest Night of the Year”, a fundraiser by The Ottawa Mission to fundraise in support of local community charities that provide services for those experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Led by Hannah Schmitt, a group of Welch staff gather together and take a 2km-5km walk on Canada’s coldest night of the year. This walk gives people first-hand experience on what it’s like to be outdoors in the cold without a warm place to stay in the wintertime.

The event takes place Saturday, February 24th at the Shaw Centre at 4:30 pm, and the walk will follow shortly after at 5:00 pm.

Hannah Schmitt was featured in an article by the Ottawa Citizen earlier this week.

“A lot of the people are suffering without a place to call their home,” Schmitt explained. “We’re all human and we all go through things and those people experiencing homelessness deserve our support just as much as any other person would.”
