With 25 years of experience, Christa Casey has become an expert in auditing not-for-profit organizations.

In January 2010, Christa was appointed Welch LLP’s Director, Not-for-Profit Sector because of her extensive experience in auditing not-for-profit organizations. Prior to this, Christa was a Quality Assurance Manager for nearly four years. Her previous and current position requires a high level of technical competence while staying informed of all developments in accounting and auditing standards.

In 2014, Christa was honoured to be a recipient of the Ottawa Business Journal’s Forty under 40 award. She also received her certification that year for CPA Ontario’s Not-for-Profit and Charity Finance Leadership program.

In the latter portion of out annual Accounting & Tax event, partner Bryden McMaster, CPA, CA, hosts a riveting panel discussion on how you can manage your business in an economically unstable environment. Our Bryden will be joined by a group of experts in various fields, adding valuable perspectives into the topic.

Bryden will be the moderator of the panel discussion.With ten years of experience in accounting and assurance, Bryden became a Partner with Welch LLP in 2021. His experience includes audits and reviews for the private sector (including car dealerships and retail), not-for-profit organizations, government audits, audits for First Nations, municipal governments.

Bryden is also a member of our firm’s Quality Control and Professional Standards Department.Prior to joining Welch LLP in September 2011, Bryden had spent five years at a big four firm here in Ottawa. Bryden graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in 2007 and obtained his Chartered Accountant / Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2010.

Lisa Nowostawski

Lisa is a seasoned human resources professional with over 20 years of progressive experience in various industries and jurisdictions. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for exceptional relationship building skills and the ability to collaborate effectively to align human resources policies and processes to support business objectives.

Lisa graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Commerce Degree majoring in Industrial Relations Management. She also holds an MBA and a Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility from Queen’s University. Lisa is currently the Director of Human Resources at Welch LLP.

Daniel S. Marques

Daniel joined the Ottawa Cresa office in the Summer of 2015. Prior to joining the Ottawa team, Daniel worked in the executive consulting industry for 7 years. As an innovative sales management professional, Daniel is proficient in developing and implementing winning strategies for high-growth organizations.

Daniel’s primary focus is driving the negotiation and renegotiating process to assist occupier’s with their office lease transaction. By implementing Cresa strategies, Daniel is able to make proactive and timely real estate decisions to consistently provide excellent results with his clients.

Robert Hogue

Robert Hogue is a member of the Macroeconomic and Regional Analysis Group, with RBC Economics Research.  He is responsible for providing analysis and forecasts for the Canadian housing market and for the provincial economies.  His publications include Housing Trends and Affordability, Provincial Outlook and provincial budget commentaries.  In his functions, he is frequently called to comment on the economy both internally within RBC and externally with clients and the media.

Mr. Hogue joined RBC in May 2008 after spending 15 years with another Canadian financial institution as a senior economist specializing in industrial analysis. At the outset of his career, he spent four years as an economist with Ontario Hydro, where he specialized in industrial and macroeconomic analysis.  Mr. Hogue holds a Master’s degree in economics from Queen’s University and a Bachelor’s degree from Université de Montréal.

Ian Lee, PhD
Associate Professor, Management
Sprott School of Business, Carleton University

Ian is an Associate Professor at Carleton University in the Sprott School where he started in 1988. He teaches the 4th year strategic management capstone course and the MBA Strategic Management capstone course, as well as related courses such as International Business Strategy, from then to now.

Since 1990, Ian has taught over 100 times across the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans, mostly in EMBA programs, in many different countries across Europe and Asia – always in American or Canadian universities in partnership with a local university.

Ian appears regularly in the media with CTV, CBC, Global and radio networks. He has authored Op-Eds in the Globe and Mail, New York Times, National Post, Financial Post and Ottawa Citizen concerning contemporary public policy issues as well as research monographs for the Macdonald-Laurier Institute concerning budgets, fiscal and monetary policy.

He has appeared by invitation before House of Commons and Senate finance, banking, industry and trade committees on numerous occasions concerning public policy debates.
